Kristin in Third Grade“Spelling Doesn’t Count”
Those three words changed my life.

I was in third grade when a substitute teacher gave us a writing assignment and the freedom to create without judgment. I’ve been writing stories ever since.

Today, I’m the author of American Wings, Iranian Roots — a deeply personal nonfiction narrative that blends memoir, cultural discovery, and survival, based on a real story from the Iranian Revolution. It’s a book that’s sparked powerful conversations in book clubs, especially among readers who love inspirational nonfiction with emotional depth and historical relevance.

In addition to my nonfiction work, I also write fiction for women—novels that explore family, identity, resilience, and the ties that bind us. My stories are designed to linger long after the final page, making them perfect for women’s book clubs and readers looking for stories that stir the heart and spark discussion.

I hold a Master’s degree in Education and a B.A. in Language Arts. By day, I’m a school administrator. By night (and early mornings), I write, mentor young writers, and stay active in my local writing community.

Whether you’re here to find your next great book club read, explore stories that bridge cultures, or connect with a writer who believes in the power of words—you’re in the right place.

Then came the conversation changed my life….

As an adult writer, my journey began sitting next to Reza Abedi at a Little League game in 2004. Reza and I found ourselves having a casual conversation at a Little League game.

Reza shared with me that he “ran to third base” the first time he hit a baseball. After we had a good natured laugh, Reza began to share his story.

Reza survived The 1979 Revolution and made international news when he defected, with the help of brave American wrestlers, during the World Wrestling Tournament in 1982.

Reza’s story had to be told, not only for Reza, but also for the millions of Americans who are just like me–who are running to third base.

Iran has been banished to the 1979 shadows of blindfolded hostages and flaming American flags.

The heart in Reza’s narrative connects humanity.

My author’s perspective makes meaning of its place in history.
